Modular Panel — Sergiu Părgras

A family of green modular acoustic-panel configurations for offices and shared spaces

Developed for Askia Furniture, the Modular Panel System integrates multiple workplace functions into a family of sound-absorbing dividers. Meeting areas, sofas, desks, coffee stations, coat racks, and cubicles can all be assembled from the same panel language.

One panel, many rooms

Rather than treating acoustic screens as isolated objects, the system uses them as shared infrastructure. Curved and straight panels define space while accepting work surfaces, storage, seating, and accessories, allowing layouts to adapt as teams and activities change.

The prototype was developed across Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, V-Ray, and SolidWorks, moving between parametric configuration studies, mechanical design, small hardware tests, and full-scale fabrication.

The solution was a robust mounting element designed to rigidly connect two panels while efficiently distributing the load directly to the floor. This metal connector allowed the two panels to be assembled using a single Allen wrench (hex key), which was concealed within the edges.
